in the Field
in the Field
No matter how sophisticated your laboratory equipment or statistical methods, the quality of your research ultimately depends on the quality of your samples. Incorrect collection procedures, improper preservation, or inadequate documentation can invalidate months of work.
DSD Research Firm's field team brings trained environmental scientists and field technicians to your study area — following internationally recognised sampling protocols to ensure your samples are collected correctly, preserved at the right conditions, labelled properly, and documented with GPS coordinates, photos, and chain-of-custody records.
We have conducted field work across the Sangu River basin, Bay of Bengal coastal zones, agricultural areas in Mymensingh, river systems in Sylhet, urban waterbodies in Dhaka, and protected forest areas in Chittagong Hill Tracts. We also provide sampling training for research teams who want to collect their own samples confidently.

How It Works
From Your Request to
Samples in the Lab
Samples in the Lab
1
Share Your Study Area & Objectives
Tell us your study area, target environmental media (water, soil, etc.), number of sampling stations, and research objectives. We'll review the area using GIS and satellite imagery before mobilisation.
2
Field Plan & Quote
We prepare a detailed field sampling plan — sampling locations (with GPS coordinates), methods, equipment list, sample numbers, preservation protocols, and timeline. You review and approve before any mobilisation.
3
Field Mobilisation
Our field team mobilises with all necessary equipment within the agreed timeframe — typically 24–48 hours. For remote locations, logistics (transport, accommodation, boat access) are arranged in advance.
4
Sample Collection & Documentation
All samples are collected following standard protocols, preserved correctly, labelled with unique IDs, and documented with GPS coordinates, photos, and digital field data forms. Chain of custody starts here.
5
Laboratory Delivery & Field Report
Samples are delivered to the laboratory with full chain-of-custody documentation. You receive a complete field report with site descriptions, photos, GPS data, and all field observations — within 48 hours of field work completion.

Frequently Asked Questions
Field Work Questions
Answered
Answered
How quickly can your team mobilise to a field site?▼
For most locations in Bangladesh, we can mobilise within 24–48 hours of receiving a confirmed order. For remote locations requiring special transport or permits (e.g. coastal marine areas, protected zones), mobilisation may take 3–5 days to arrange properly. We always confirm the timeline before accepting an order.
Can you collect samples if I'm an international researcher based overseas?▼
Yes — this is one of our most valued services for international researchers. You tell us your sampling design, we implement it in Bangladesh and send you photographs, GPS data, and field reports in real time. Samples can be processed at our laboratory and results shared digitally, or shipped internationally if required.
Can I join the field team as part of my research?▼
Absolutely — many researchers prefer to be present during field work. You're welcome to join our team in the field. We can also provide a combined service: our team leads the sampling while training you or your students in correct field methods at the same time.
How do you ensure sample quality during transport?▼
We use proper preservation methods for each sample type — ice boxes for temperature-sensitive samples, chemical preservatives where required, and dark containers for light-sensitive samples. All samples are transported to the laboratory within the holding time specified by the analytical method being used.
Do you provide field training for student research teams?▼
Yes — we offer field training sessions where your team learns correct sampling, preservation, and documentation techniques under our supervision. This is ideal for thesis students who plan to conduct their own field work but want to start correctly. Ask about our combined field training + supervised sampling packages.
